SMSTS - Site Management Safety Training Scheme

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is for anyone who is currently, or soon to be working as a construction site manager.

What does the course involve?

The course covers all aspects of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues on construction sites. Topics covered are:

  • Behavioural safety

  • Confined spaces.

  • Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations

  • Demolition

  • Electricity

  • Excavations

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act

  • Management of occupational health

  • Recent changes in accepted working practices

  • Risk assessments/method statements

  • Scaffolding

  • Working at height

What qualification will I receive?

On completion of the course, you will receive a certificate which is valid for 5 years. You will need to take the SMSTS Refresher course (SMSTS-R) before your certificate expires, otherwise you will need to take the full SMSTS course again.
