Who is this course for?

This course is for candidates of all abilities who wish to work on an construction site.

The NPORS Site Safety Awareness course is endorsed by Build UK as the required standard of training for all construction site workers.

Course Aims

To provide thorough training in Site Safety Awareness, to provide the candidate with an understanding of health and safety to allow them to recognise and prevent potential hazards on construction sites.

How long is the course?

The course will be completed in 1 day (a minimum of 7 hours)

What will I learn on the course?

On completion of the course candidates will have a basic understanding of:​

  • The industry, the dangers of working in the industry and the responsibilities of the Employer, Employee and Self-employed

  • Emergency procedures – First aid and Fire, Health Risks and welfare, Work at height, P.P.E

  • Hazardous substances and environmental waste protection and control, manual handling, electrical safety, hand tools and equipment

  • The effects that noise, vibration and site transport have on individuals and the environment

  • Excavations, Inspections, transport safety

Is there a test?

Candidates will complete a theory test which is made up of 30 multiple choice questions.

Achievement

On successful completion of the course, all candidates will receive an NPORS certificate.

 

As the NPORS Site Safety Awareness course is the equivalent of the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment, candidates who wish to apply for the CSCS Green Labourers card can do so once they have also passed CITB Health, Safety & Environment Operatives test (please note that candidates or their employer must apply for the green card themselves).

What happens after I complete the course?

The certificate is valid for 5 years and must be renewed before the expiry date.

Failure to renew before the expiry date will result in the full course having to be completed again.
