
Lantra Slinger/Signaller


We provide Lantra Slinger Signaller training in Devon, Cornwall and the wider Southwest, with courses available for beginners, experienced operators, and companies.
Who is this course for?
This course is for candidates of all abilities who wish to carry out the duties of a slinger signaller on site.
Course Aims
To provide thorough training in slinger/signalling, to enable the candidate to pass the Lantra theory and practical tests.
How long is the course?
Recommended Duration:
(Max 3 candidates per course)
Novice: Up to 2 Days
Experienced Worker Test: ½ Day (no training beforehand)
What will I learn on the course?
To pass the test, you must successfully carry out the following activities:

Describe the key requirements of health and safety legislation

Define the responsibilities of those involved in lifting operations

Interpret and apply the information within lifting plans

Explain the use and limitations of equipment and accessories

Describe how to care, maintain and store equipment and accessories

Locate and interpret information located on tags and labels

Inspect lifting equipment and accessories before and after use

Evaluate loads and select the most appropriate lifting equipment

Create a basic lift plan

Demonstrate how to attach and prepare a variety of loads for movement using the appropriate equipment and accessories

Employ clear methods of communication and signals to direct safe movement of the load

Demonstrate how to safely detach and store lifting equipment on completion of movement.
Is there a test?
Candidates will complete a theory test and practical test.
The theory test consists of 20 multiple choice questions.
If any candidates experience difficulties with reading or writing, please let us know so we can assist them appropriately.
Achievement
Once you have passed and completed the course you will receive a 5 year Lantra photo card for Slinger Signaller.
Refresher training is recommended within 5 years to keep your skills current.
