CPCS Blue Card Renewal Test Changes

Updated: Aug 22

As of Thursday 22nd August 2024, the CPCS Renewal Test has been replaced with NOCN's Online CPCS Renewal CPD e-Learning Course.

CPD stands for Continued Professional Development. There is no test but there are some questions that will need to be answered to progress through the e-Learning course. But don't worry, if you get a question wrong you will be shown the correct answer before moving on to the next section.

Candidates will be able to complete the CPD course online at home using a smartphone, laptop or PC and you will no longer have to attend a Pearson Vue test centre.

Candidates will no longer have to pass a test for each category they wish to renew as the new online CPD courses will be made up of five modules which cover different areas of plant.

The modules are:

  • Earth Moving and Compaction

  • Lifting and Lifting Equipment

  • Piling and Pumping of Materials

  • Lifting Supervision and Management

  • Demolition

To find out which modules you will need to sit please enter the categories you wish to renew into the renewal test tool. You will have the option to click through to book the renewal CPD course through the NOCN Hub. You will need to sign in to the NOCN Hub or create an account.

Alternatively you can call the CPCS Helpline on 0300 999 1177.

The test costs £28 when booked through NOCN. Third party companies will charge more.

Please note that candidates will also need to have passed the touch screen Health, Safety & Environment test within the last two years before renewing their blue cards.

We can book the course for candidates but a booking fee will apply.
